“Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors . . . and miss.” —Robert A. Heinlein
(Hilarious! And, very appropriate, considering today’s date. I never knew that Mr. Heinlein had a good sense of humor! Stay well, stay strong, and always do good, friends.) —YUR
Clue/Question: They sold ketches, sloops and cutters. The total cost of each boat included – – –
Answer: “SAILS“TAX
(Sure, it’s a stinky pun. But, it’s a genius stinky pun! Just like how Brian Wilson is a genius songwriter, musician, and record producer. Growing up, I wasn’t really the biggest Beach Boys fan, but I’ve really come to appreciate their work. Sailboats – especially sloops – always make me think of the Beach Boys.
All familiar clue words today. Three of the four jumbles appear – to me – to be new. We’ve definitely seen “seyms” sometime in the past. I had a beast of a time with “rateyb”! I had to resort to backing into “betray”. The answer letter layout is a great eight letter jumble. There was just enough – for me – to see SAILS, and the X was enough for me to figure the second word was TAX. Knowing I needed the A and T still took me some time to figure out “betray”.
Great cartoon of a sailboat marina. It looks like Jeff must have spent a little time in San Francisco, a few months back. This is the second day in a row where he’s shown us the Golden Gate Bridge. Or, maybe he’s just been listening to a little Tony Bennett. Another fine Jumble from Hoyt and Knurek. Be well and do good, friends.) —YUR
