Cryptoquote Spoiler – 04/09/20

(Second day in a row that it’s taken me some time to get this started.  Even with correctly assuming the P was the A, and figuring the K was likely the E.  I couldn’t be certain that the J was the S, until I really got into it.  For about a minute, I thought the third word might be CUSTARD!  And now, while trying to look up the quote’s author, Google gives me a 21 year old professional racing cyclist from New Zealand!  I’m pretty sure she’s no expert on retired husbands.  I’m giving you a photo of an author with this name.  Hopefully, it’s her!  Regardless, we welcome Ella Harris to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 04/09/20

Clue/Question:  Even without a tuxedo, the porcupine was – – –

Answer:  SHARPLY DRESSED  (or DRESSED SHARPLY)

(A good, old fashioned, simple stinky pun!  But, lots of fun!  The word DRESSED came to me immediately.  And, after checking off those letters, I could tell that the other word would be SHARPLY.  This is a rare Jumble where either answer word order would be considered acceptable.  Not sure how the boys answered it.  You online solvers must know.

There were no new clue words today.  However three of the jumbles came up as new.  We’ve definitely seen “dhoysd” sometime before.  The answer letter layout was a very impressive fourteen letter jumble.  Nothing obvious about it.

I always enjoy the cartoons where Jeff anthropomorphizes some critters.  It looks like a fancy goose and a black swan up front.  With the tortoise and the hare, in the rear.  I also like how both the porcupine and the raccoon are enjoying cocktails.  Quite the garden party!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
