Sunday Cryptoquote Spoiler – 03/22/20

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.  Do good anyway.”   —   Dr. Robert Schuller

(I was never a fan of his, or of any “televangelist” for that matter, but I’ve always liked this quote.  I’m fairly sure that the sentiment had been expressed before Dr. Schuller, but probably not these exact words.  Either way, it is sound advice, folks.  Keep on doing good, no matter what people might say about you.  Be well and . . . well, you know.)   —   YUR

Answer:  PURROOF POSITIVE

(Ooh!  This was a real stinky pun.  The clue words weren’t so tough, but the final answer was kind of sneaky challenging.  It actually made me groan a little!

All of the clue words are already on the world famous ralis95 clue word database.  But five of the jumbles appear to be new.  We have definitely seen “glepti” sometime in the past.  The answer letter layout was a super fifteen letter jumble.  It hid the final answer from me very nicely, for a while.  I figured PURR had to be part of it.  Then I saw the POSITIVE.  It took me another minute to process the OFO into OOF, and get the pun.

Cute cartoon of a granny and her grand-kids.  That is one monster of a cat!  He must weigh 20 pounds, or so.  At least he’s content!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(Belated) Cryptoquote Spoiler – 03/21/20

Image result for Moliere

In clothes as well as in speech, the man of taste will shun all these extremes that give offense.”   —   Moliere

(Good ol’ J-BP knoweth of what he speaketh!  LOL!  But, try and explain this to Billy Porter, Lady Gaga, Jonathan Van Ness and so many of today’s celebs.  I know they all have their reasons, but I do get kind of tired of it all.  I’m getting cranky in my old age!  You might get a sense of irony in the picture of Moliere that I selected.  But, you have to remember that – among many things – he was an actor!  He’s more than kinda a big deal.  Just ask Micheline Walker!

Love ya, Gaga!  You were absolutely brilliant in “A Star Is Born”!  Looking at your entire birth name, I can see where you got “Gaga”.  Is that what you did?  Hmm!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR  Image result for Lady Gaga

Answer:  STRIKE A POSE

(A marvelous stinky pun!  You can just hear all the snooty, linguistic blue-noses groaning, all over the world.  Groan on, killjoys!  Jumblers love their puns!

It looks like Hoyt spared us any new words, as they are already on the ralis95 world famous clue word database.  However, all of the jumbles appear to be new!  I was able to get them all immediately though.  The answer letter layout was a nifty eleven letter jumble.  Not obvious, at all.  The leading nature of the the clue/question set up the final answer, for me.

Fantastic drawing of upset, protesting cartoonists!  Our pal, Jeff Knurek is front and center, with his MAKE THE JUMBLE BIGGER sign.  Flanked by Hilary Price, of “Rhymes With Orange”, and Stephan Pastis, of “Pearls Before Swine”.  They even got Cathy Guisewite out of retirement for the protest!  I don’t see Jim Davis, but someone is holding a “Garfield” sign.  And, this must be in Metropolis, as they’re outside The Daily Planet.  Could the reporter be none other than Clark Kent???  Jeff is living the dream in this one!  LOL!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
