The play Porgy and Bess, starring Todd Duncan and Anne Browne, opened on Broadway on this date in 1943.

Eddie “Rochester” Anderson, comedian, died on this date in 1977.  Anderson performed over 30 years on both radio and television, with Jack Benny.

(Ooh, a beautiful stinky pun!  I love it!  I’ve flown first class a couple of times.  It was a long time ago though.  I didn’t have to pay for it!  It was back in the days when airlines frequently overbooked their flights.  Both times I was flying solo, and I gave up my seat so a family could sit together, and they bumped me up to first class.  It was very sweet.  I don’t think that could happen in today’s airline environment.

We have a new clue word today, in “unify”.  Ralis95 will have to update his world famous clue word database again!  All of today’s jumbles came up as new, and I thought all of them had a certain degree of difficulty.  The one that I had the least difficulty with was “rfteer”.  The answer letter layout was a great twelve letter jumble.  But, I had less trouble getting the final answer than the first three jumbles.

Fine airline cartoon.  Babies crying on a plane are the worst!  But, there’s not much you can do about it.  Ear plugs, or noise canceling headphones, are about all I can think of.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
