(A marvelous stinky pun!  And, one that some of our younger readers may have struggled to get.  Not that we have a whole lot of young puzzlers, but there are some out there.  The younger ones probably only know Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan.  Possibly Timothy Dalton.  But, Roger who???  Roger actually holds the title for most Bond movies, at seven, followed by Sean Connery, at six.  You could call it a tie, if you count “Never Say Never Again”, which was kind of a remake of “Thunderball”, and by a different production company than the other Bond films.  I remember seeing that one with my semi girlfriend, Doreen, back in 1983.  She was so pretty, but she was just not that into me.  Heavy sigh!

No new clue words today.  But, it’s another day where all the jumbles are coming up as new.  No stumpers today though.  A very impressive fourteen letter answer letter layout jumble.  Nothing obvious about it.  Again, if I weren’t of a certain age I might have struggled to get the final answer.  The quotation marks were a help.

Nice cartoon of a ’70s bijou.  Great ‘fro, or perm, on the ticket guy.  The main characters were not over-the-top 1973 types.  But, still a nice period piece cartoon.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

My reaction as well. It was a good pun, final answer, cartoon, and clue setup that I unscrambled fairly quickly. But while the name Roger Moore as the second James Bond of film was common knowledge four decades ago, it’s not as well known today. Moore was commonly perceived as miscast, and Moore’s Bond films are not remembered… at least in a good way.

Roger was actually the third Bond. George Lazenby was the second, but he only did the one movie “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. Some reviewers have two of Roger’s Bond movies as top 10, of the 27 made. But 2 out of 7 isn’t saying all that much! In general, they were the campier of the whole series.

Oh that’s right, I forgot about Lazenby. Probably just as well they didn’t use him for the answer!

All the Bonds have served us well. There were several, yet only one.

Lazenby totally fell short for me..he was NO Bond. I liked Moore…dashing, and I’m enjoying him on The Saint re-runs. Connery, to me, was the quintessential Bond, and Brosnan was very, very Bondish too. Loved him on Remington Steele.

Got through the clue words quickly, but did have to work on the answer. LL

    Linda Lee,

I have kind of a soft spot for Lazenby, as his Bond movie was the first one I was allowed to see. But, my teen years were full of the Roger Moore ones. I was also a big fan of “The Saint”. — YUR
