Cryptoquote Spoiler – 01/22/20

An old dog can learn new tricks.  If your enthusiasm has lost its vitality, do everything possible to revive it.”   —   Don McArt

(This one took me quite a while to get started!  No single letter words, and only two words ended in E.  I suspected early on that the R was I, but I’d say finding the Q being the O, and especially the P being the N was what got me going.  It let me see LEARN, which led me to ENTHUSIASM.  Sadly, I do not recall Don McArt, but he was a comic actor who lived to age 90.  He did a lot of Broadway, but also some Disney movies and television.  No Wikipedia page, but there is some bio info of him in his obituary.  In this photo he looks like George Burns, which was probably by design.  It’s a fine quote, and we welcome him to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  The courtroom was brand-new, and the judge was ready to – – –

Answer:  GIVE IT A TRY

(Now, that’s what I call a stinky pun!  But, do the judges actually “try” the cases?  I thought the lawyers “try” the cases, and the judge hears them, or presides over the trials.  I watch a lot of legal dramas, but I’m kinda fuzzy on this.  Is “try” kind of a flexible term?  Any judges or lawyers out there?

All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends.  Although, each of their jumbles are coming up as new.  All of them are good, but none of them held me up.  The answer letter layout was a wonderful ten letter jumble, and not obvious.  I think the leading nature of the clue/question, and the final answer slots, were what made the answer evident to me.

Fine cartoon of what looks to be a new and modern courtroom.  There probably should be a flag or two though.  No jurors, or anything.  Maybe this judge does the pre-trial hearings, or something.  Either way, I thought this was a fun Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
