Clue/Question:  The deck used by the poker players was old.  They all agreed it should be – – –

Answer:  DISCARDED

(That’s a good, stinky pun.  A real groaner.  I wonder what’s the average life span of a deck of cards?!  I guess it depends on the number of hands played, and how good the shufflers are.  Some folks are brutal shufflers.  And, probably moisture from beers and sodas, and grease from chips and peanuts play a factor in how long a deck is usable.

No new clue words today.  Three of the jumbles came up as new, with “spirct” having definitely been used before.  It took me a couple of looks before I saw “script”, so I guess it’s a pretty good jumble.  The answer letter layout was another fine nine letter jumble.  I guess all the D’s clued me into the answer.

It was fun seeing the players wearing their favorite team sweatshirts, tees, and jerseys.  I hadn’t noticed before that Jeff had a female player in his group.  Attaboy, Jeff!  Who’s the Franco Harris fan?  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

    Many families have beat-up decks of cards sitting in a drawer which *could* be DISCARDED and replaced with new ones, but hold too many memories. I know ours did. I tried going on eBay searching “vintage playing cards” to see if I could see some deck designs that would ring my memory bell for the ones my parents had, but gave up after #600 of over 30,000 decks currently listed there, most sealed and different.

    FYI UR, the woman is comedian Lissa Sears and she is a “regular” at a number of Jumble poker games. I saw this nugget of Jumble trivia from another fan site. I do not dive that deep. I spend enough time just solving the daily Jumble challenge.

    Being well – versed in playing cards; {Poker}
    There are so many variables in the usable state of a deck of cards, too get an average length is “Forgit ’bout it”

    For an example: In approx. 75% of the games I play – in after the deck makes one complete trip
    around the table anybody may ask/receive a new 52 ((No Cost))>>>>>there’s one fee charged when you begin the evening game’s
    {{Free tip…….,NEVER play in games where they
    drag $$$ out after every pot!!!*…..^^/if there is
    One Regular Dealer, no problem with tipping her after a win》》》》》Usually females fill these gigs for obvious reasons…… …^^^^₩

    May your luck be favorable in 2020 & let your
    2s come in sets of 3s & 4s….either ♤♡◇♧s
    (Equal opportunity sort – of – guy)….lol

    One more freebie: After every game, in a small notebook I write the date and length of game &
    if I won or lost???¿…..I only put the amount of $$$ if it is significant……there’s a branch of mathematics, proprobility, that I use; that is very helpful to me…!! $.
    SRY, Can’t explain that here.

    Hope this didn’t bore too many Puzzlers but one more Stat:
    This is not boasting…..,,some
    Gamers may find this inter-
    esting/answer their curiosity;
    Over the last 3 yrs. am 68% Up
    That may not sound like a Big Deal, but believe
    ME…….IT IS!!^^^^☆☆☆$$$

    THX for letting me share….I may have helped
    some folks…..Byyyyy & Stay Blessed!!

    Surely, I am not without my own contradictions, Ken. But here is a little nugget for you to mull over. “Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty.” — YUR

    For the Lord sayeth: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

    I prefer to believe that the poker games portrayed in these Jumbles are more of the friendlier, more casual ilk. — YUR

    No, Ken. I was just being a jerk. I’m sorry. I have a bias against gambling, and I took some cheap shots at you. It was uncalled for. — YUR

    It’s a fine quote, Micheline! But, I shouldn’t have used it as a cudgel in responding to Ken. — YUR

    UR,

    You were to hard on yourself!!!

    When you quote the Word of God many times
    the inspiration comes from the Holy Spirit ☆☆☆ {Think on that}

    Right now gambling ls negatively affecting /destroying
    literally millions of lives World wide>>>>I was just giving some Proven/Common Sense advise^^
    Rethinking that: I was in the wrong format to
    speak on that subject, My Bad
