Pre-Answer: Four Words (8-letters) (2-letters) THE (4-letters)

Answer: ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM
(Gotta love it, on a number of levels! I guess you’d call it a literal/figurative pun. It reminds me a little of those commercials for pistachios. Strangely enough, I find those commercials mildly offensive! Elephants are such noble, intelligent creatures, and the commercials portray them as sort of crass. Ironically – maybe? – I have no problem with this cartoon.
All of today’s clue words are familiar old favorites. The whole ralis95 Sunday issue is moot today. All of the jumbles are coming up as new though. Five of them I saw right away, but I struggled a bit with “rventa”. As a confirmed teetotaler, I’ve never seen the inside of a “tavern”. And, if you buy that I’ve got some prime property in the Okefenokee Swamp I’d like to show you. The other jumble I struggled a bit with was “curace”. I spent twenty four years in banking with absolutely zero training in accounting, so I stayed away from accruals. The answer letter layout was a nifty fourteen letter jumble. By itself, it gave nothing away. It was the cartoon that was literally the elephant in the room!
Super fun cartoon. A classic, fussy looking ringmaster. A sloppy, Oscar Madison-ish elephant, crushing a couch and coffee table. The glory days circus poster on the wall. And, a bag of Carter’s peanuts on the floor! Tons of fun . . . literally! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
