Jumble Spoiler – 11/19/19

Clue/Question:  The experience of using his first battery-operated toothbrush was – – –

Answer:  ELECTRIFYING

(Good thing this is DC and not AC, I guess.  The voltage in batteries is generally lower than if the electric toothbrush were plugged into an outlet.  Ooh!  Can you imagine a short if it was plugged into an outlet?

Although it seems to me we’ve had it before, the clue word “filly” is not on the ralis95 clue word database.  Hopefully, it will after today.  The other three are old favorites.  Three of the jumbles appear to be new, with “nitew” having definitely been used before.  None of them tripped me up.  The answer letter layout was a beautiful twelve letter jumble.  The cartoon was the biggest clue!

I haven’t read Mad Magazine in years, but it was a big part of my adolescence.  It always made me laugh.  Today’s guest cartoon made me laugh.  Thank you, Dan McConnell.  The Guest Jumbler series is always a lot of fun.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Delayed Jumble “Spoiler” – 11/18/19

Clue/Question:  For Dennis, finding room for dessert was a – – –

Answer:  PIECE OF CAKE

(All of my life, to this day, I can always find room for dessert.  I’ve got a big sweet tooth!  However, I don’t always give in to the urge to splurge.  I can practice mature restraint, from time to time.  Kids do not feel the need to restrain themselves.

All of this day’s clue words are already on the ralis95 clue word database.  Although, all of their jumbles came up as new.  Of them, I had the most trouble with getting “exert”.  As you might read in Ken’s comments, I also think that the word is not used all that often, but I still consider it a common word.  The answer letter layout was a nice eleven letter jumble, but the final answer was actually a piece of cake for me.

I have been a fan of Dennis the Menace pretty much my entire life, whether it was the old television series with Jay North, the comic strip in the Funnies section, his comic books, or the movie with Walter Matthau.  Hank Ketcham’s good natured – but often naughty – little boy is an endearing character in American entertainment culture.  I was so glad to see him in Monday’s guest Jumble cartoon!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
