Jumble Spoiler – 11/14/19

Clue/Question:  The 9-to-5 coal miners worked – – –

Answer:  DAY IN AND DAY OUT

(I hope this was as automatic for you as it was to me!  It’s a good pun, but not necessarily a stinky pun.  A little grimy maybe.

None of today’s clue words are new.  Ralis954 gets a day off.  Three of the jumbles came up as new, with “cuyyk” having definitely been used before.  I guess “toddle” could have been tough for some.  It’s not really that common a word these days.  The answer letter layout was an impressive fourteen letter long jumble.  I thought it might be a tough solve until I read the cartoon and the clue/question.  The final answer spaces also made it a quick solve for me.

Fine cartoon of some grimy miners leaving the mine shaft.  Dangerous work, in so many ways.  Not a job that most people want their kids to get into.  But, I guess it paid well enough to raise the miners’ families.  We are finally moving away from coal, to cleaner energy alternatives, but it’s still a going concern.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
