Visual Description: From distraction to destruction!
ANSRL = SNARL, DURED = UDDER, RATEKM = MARKET, YBHUCB = CHUBBY — Giving us: SRUDMKTCUB
Clue/Question: He didn’t look in his rearview mirror before backing up and as a result was – – –
Answer: DUMBSTRUCK
(I love this pun, because – to me – it is so true! Far too many people out there just can’t seem to put their stupid cellphones down, even when they’re performing tasks that require their full attention. It really is a form of addiction. It’s very sad, and sometimes this sick behavior results in accidents. Some of them even fatal. Our guys had to go with a not so minor fender bender, because this is a family puzzle. But, from the look on the big bald guy’s face, I wouldn’t rule out some future violence.
No new clue words today! Ralis95 can go back to sipping mojitos by the pool. Or, whatever he feels like drinking. Three of the jumbles appear to be new, with “dured” having definitely been used before. The answer letter layout was a splen-did ten letter jumble. I thought it did a marvelous job of disguising the final answer.
Great automobile accident cartoon. It’s likely a parking lot, but it could also be a street parking situation. The poor dopey addict still can’t seem to put his phone down. I hope this ISN’T a “no-fault” state, and he’s forced bear the brunt of the repair costs. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

The online Sunday Jumble puzzle (Flash verision) has been reasonably stable lately without glitches rendering it unsolvable. But today’s online (Flash version) Daily Jumble has one such error, which is not unheard of but less common than in the Sunday puzzles over the last decade.

Notice that the grid for the final answer is eight letters long. DUMBSTRUCK would need a nine-letter grid. The B does not drop down as an available letter when the regular words are solved, and typing R sounds the error buzzer. The answer this version scores correct: DUMBSTUCK. Speaking of DUMB…
Well speaking of DUMB, I got the count wrong in my comment above. DUMBSTRUCK is 10 letters long. The grid shows a nine letter grid, and you get the error buzzer when you type the B as well as the R. The only way you can see that DUMBSTUCK is what the puzzle thinks it wants as the correct answer is by clicking the GIVE UP button on the bottom right. But there’s no way to get it right, even typing DUMBSTUCK. Fun!
Don’t you even bother to read my comments, Ken??? The driver on his cell phone was DUMB, and as a result he was STRUCK by the driver who had the right of way. I thought the answer was pure poetry! — YUR 🙂
UR,
I read your coments 98% of the time…..Your classifying the Driver as”DUMB” was faulty and weak…One Example; A person gets an urgent call concerning a family member and is not thinking straight, result is a bad mistake. This does not qualify the Driver as “DUMB”
Most people have this situation a few times in their lifesm and they are certainly not all “DUMB” “People”
About 6 hrs. ago I spoke to some of my Mensa Brother’s /Sister’s {they like these kind of chats^*} They were in Caythorpe, Lincolnshire, England. They meant no harm, but to sum the conversation up they agreed you have been having an”Off Mental Day”lol
I did speak highly of you though♡
Seeing how you disrespected me: Can you top my numbers??¿
Curent IQ: 148
Catell Test: 164
Binet Test Score: 144
Lots of fun & joy
Let me explain something to you, Ken. The Jumble is a cartoon puzzle that appears in the Comics section of numerous newspapers. It’s intended to be humorous entertainment. I do not write, or draw, for The Jumble. I simply solve them, like the multitudes do, and I post these spoilers in advance of the answers printed in the newspaper the following day. Some of the dialog in this particular cartoon even referred to the offending driver as an “idiot”. It was a kind of clue, a vehicle if you will, along with the depiction of the auto accident, to direct the reader to the pun of DUMB . . . STRUCK. In my comments I stated “Far too many people out there just can’t seem to put their stupid cellphones down, even when they’re performing tasks that require their full attention.” “Far too many”. Not all. And, for all intents and purposes, even my commentary is for entertainment purposes.
In my reply to your . . . unusual comment, I wasn’t questioning your intelligence. For me, it was a matter of asked and answered. My opinion was that “the answer was pure poetry”. It was whimsical. A fun pun. Apparently, you didn’t get/appreciate the pun. That’s alright. Puns are widely referred to as “the lowest form of humor”, and you – apparently – are some kind of genius. I’m just a regular guy, pal.
But, it seems that my response hit a nerve, so I apologize for offending you. I can be a little short sometimes, especially when I think people aren’t being straight with me. Tell your friends at Mensa I say Hey! Oh, and thanks for speaking highly of me!

Ken, really? It’s pretty straightforward what we were going after. I couldn’t have drawn the cartoon to point a player to the answer any better. The driver, IN THE CARTOON, was being DUMB. Maybe the Jumble is beneath you. I hear the Sudoku is very challenging. What’s with the numbers?
Exactly, Jeff. The driver was “being dumb” . . . at that moment. You weren’t commenting on the driver’s IQ, just that all of us are capable of doing dumb things, from time to time. God knows I’ve done my share of dumb things, and I’ll probably end up doing many more dumb things. We ain’t perfect beings.
Nice of you to drop in, my man. — YUR
