Light travels faster than sound.  This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.”   —   Alan Dundes

(A very clever quip!  And, I’m glad it’s not another re-run.  Rebecca has been slipping in a few, over the past few months.  But, this is the first quote from Alan Dundes, since I’ve been posting these spoilers.  So, today we welcome Mr. Dundes to the Cryptoquote Club!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  When the dog moved his tail back and forth while walking, they commented on his – – –

Answer:  SWAGGER

(I was kind of expecting the answer to be “S-WAGGER”.  But, this is a very cute pun.  And, a very cute Jumble.  It puts me in mind of the Hefty trash bag commercial with John Cena, where the baby says:  “Dada”, and the mother says sexily:  “I wish.”  If the commercial were with men, talking about a beautiful woman, the #MeToo Police would be up in arms!  Years ago that may have flown, but we’re kind of seeing a type of role reversal these days.  Payback for all the years of the “old boy” mentality, where women were seen as sex objects and second class citizens.  Maybe some day we’ll settle into a happy medium.  But, for the foreseeable future, we’re going to be experiencing the Hell hath no fury/all men are boobs treatment.  I guess we – collectively – kind of deserve it.

No new clue words again this day.  Although, once again all the jumbles appear to be new.  I actually had to back into “negate”!  So, props to Hoyt on “ntaeeg”.  The answer letter layout was a super seven letter jumble.  Definitely not obvious.

Very cute cartoon of dogs at a dog park.  The one pup is playing fetch.  Two of them are doing a little doggie gossiping.  The “swagger” dog looks kind of blasé.  No doubt he’s thinking about suppertime!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  The middle dog in the top pic, and the dog with the hound – second pic – looks a little like my Wally!   —   YUR

It is not necessary to do extraordinary things to get extraordinary results.”   —   Warren Buffet

(I guess old Warren is a believer in:  slow and steady wins the race.  I like how B.J. Novak adds:  . . . till truth and talent claim their place.   Mr. Buffet always looks for the undervalued qualities of well-managed companies.  The strategy has certainly done him well!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  Casinos on the “Strip” make so much money because lots of people go to – –

Answer:  LOSS VEGAS

(“LOST WAGES” is probably more appropriate.  But, the puzzle answer applies just as well.  Just go for the buffets, the sights, and the shows.  If you want to play the games of chance set a strict budget, and stick to it.  Don’t allow yourself to be seduced by the lights and bells and hubbub.  These people are master marketers, and they prey on our baser emotions.  It’s extremely rare to ‘beat the system’, because the odds are stacked against you.  Only one half of one percent of folks qualify as ‘professional gamblers’, and they play very methodically – not emotionally.  You have a slightly better chance at becoming a professional athlete, than a professional gambler.  Listen to yer uncle!

No new clue words this day, however all of the jumbles were coming up as new.  None came off as difficult, for me.  The answer letter layout was a fine nine letter jumble.  It disguised the final answer very well.

Great cartoon of the Vegas “Strip”!  You can tell that Mr. Knurek has spent a significant amount of time there.  I liked how he inserted himself into the cartoon.  Sort of like Alfred Hitchcock in his movies!  If you do go to Vegas, make sure you book a room at the renowned Jumble Hotel and Casino!  I hear they have some lovely fountains!  LOL!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
