Cryptoquote Spoiler – 10/09/19

(My paper did a bit of a wrap around with today’s Cryptoquote.  Don’t know if it was intentional, or just one of those things.  But, it didn’t trip me up any, as I was able to see EVERYONE NEEDS right off the bat, and that was more than enough to get the ball rolling.  I figured the author had to be somebody current, as IN THEIR SPACE did not sound like something from a classic quote.  Regardless, we welcome Ms. Gilbreath to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 10/09/19

Clue/Question:  It was cold outside, so the firewood salesman – – –

Answer:  BUNDLED UP

(An appropriate, stinky pun.  It seems that our extended summer has come to a close, here in the Northeast.  We had a great run, but now it’s rainy and we’ll be lucky to get out of the 50s.  I’ve switched from tee shirts and shorts, to sweat shirts and jeans.  We haven’t seen a frost yet, but that could come any day now.

All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends.  And, surprisingly, three of the four jumbles have been used before.  Only “dulfi” is coming up as new.  None stumped me though.  The answer letter layout was a fine nine letter jumble, but it was difficult to hide today’s final answer.

A fine woodsy cartoon.  The salesman knows what he’s doing, and he’s dressed appropriately, with his hat, scarf, sweater and gloves.  We’re seeing some nicely bundled bonus clues there too.  There’s something not right about plastic wrapped firewood!  Right?  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
