Never say you know a man until you have divided an inheritance with him.”   —   Johann Kaspar Lavater

(Those kind of things can be very contentious.  Someone is bound to think that they’re entitled to a little bit more.  Or, that so and so got a little bit more.  Usually, it’s pretty inconsequential.  But, there are times, in some families, where one member greedily grabs far more than his/her fare share.  That always ends with hard feelings, and/or shattered relationships.  Just honor the wishes of the deceased, and try to be equitable with whatever isn’t specified in the will.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  MEAT AND GREET

(Nothing ambiguous about today’s stinky pun Jumble.  It’s pretty much a cut and dry, meat and potatoes kind of pun.  After reviewing yesterday’s Jumble I can sea . . . uh “see” where they were going with it.  What would have made their intended pun more clear, to me, would have been the addition of the word DOWN in the clue/question.  In between RIDE and IN.  Or, if they rephrased the clue/question to:  THEY TOOK THE SUBMARINE DOWN TO – – –  Every now and then, and I’m talking years here, the guys will come up with an answer that I’ll take issue with.  Ironically, the one that comes to mind had to do with a boat leaving a harbor.  And, I think it was another SEA/SEE pun!  Back then I thought that one of the letter circles was incorrect, because there was a word that had both an E and an A in it.  Don’t ask me when it was, or how that clue/question was phrased, but there were some similarities there.  But, more to the matter at hand . . .

There are no new clue words today.  Yeah, they’re all old friends.  Three of the jumbles appear to be new, with “vorgen” having definitely been used sometime before.  The answer letter layout was a dandy twelve letter jumble.  It gave nothing away.  And, yes.  I checked all the letters today.  It was all the great dialog in the cartoon that really set up the pun-swer for me.

I was a little slow on the uptake with all the butcher characters in the cartoon.  But, the second character’s line was just so familiar.  So, I Googled “Abe Froman”.  That’s the name Ferris Bueller uses to try to get into the fancy restaurant in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”.  Now, I see the guy introducing himself as Abe Froman is Ferris Bueller!  Nice job, Jeff.  Hey!  Wasn’t there also a Sam the butcher, in “The Brady Bunch”?  He was Alice’s boyfriend.  Next to Sam is some guy named Casey, with a uni-brow.  Not sure what’s up with that, or with Pat, but I guess they could just be some random names.  Another fun Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
