The secret of success is making hay with the grass that grows under other people’s feet.”   —   Author Unknown

(I bet this guy/person worked for the government!  For most of us who are fortunate enough to own our own homes, we rarely own the mineral rights, for what is underground.  Local governments can plant trees on your property along the street, but it’s your responsibility to trim them, and remove them if they fall.  When my neighborhood was part of the unincorporated town there was never an issue of snow removal, if a sidewalk ran along your property.  But, as soon as we incorporated into a village they threatened us with fines if we didn’t keep the sidewalk clear!  I’m not a huge Libertarian, and it’s not really even about the taxes, but I will say that we are, to a certain extent at least, slaves to the state.  I can sympathize with those folks who decide to live in isolation, off the grid so to speak.  And, surprisingly, things have only gotten worse over the last three years, so this is not a left/right issue.  Representation stinks, there are so many limitations on what we can do, and we’re supposed to be grateful for living in a “free society“.  Pisses me off, folks!  Anyway, be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Did anyone else notice the different artist for “Dilbert” today?  Not sure if this is an earlier version of the comic, being brought back for nostalgic purposes, or if it is a guest artist.  My newspaper didn’t say one way or the other.   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  The invention of the electric fan began with a – – –

Answer:  ROUGH DRAFT

(At first I thought I that I smelled a stinky pun, butt it passed rather quickly.  You could say it was . . . “Gone With the Wind”!  I could also make many jokes about breaking wind, which of course would be “Breaking Bad”.  So, I won’t go there.

A mule is the “hybrid” offspring of a male “donkey” and a female horse.  They make for “grand” beasts of burden, but they are “unfit” for breeding, as they are sterile.  Many years ago we had a reader who would use the Jumble clue words to make a few clever sentences.  And, more recently, our friend Ken has done the same.  All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends.  While three of the jumbles did come up as new.  Only “futin” has definitely been used before.  I wonder if the guys will ever use “putin”?  The answer letter layout was a fun ten letter jumble.  Not obvious.

A fine period piece cartoon.  Must be the early 1880s.  I’m surprised that Edison didn’t come up with the electric fan first.  I’d think that the head guy there is trying to work out the blade design.  A fun Monday Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
