“Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men.” — George S. Patton
(I always thought old George was a big time General in the U.S. Army. I didn’t realize that he moonlighted as Captain Obvious! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Clue/Question: The tennis player was doing quite well in the tournament, until he . . .
Answer: MET HIS MATCH
(Ooh! An extremely stinky, predictable, cliche of a pun! And, I am certain that the guys have resorted to this pun-chline at least once before. And, it’s a few days late of the U.S. – Tennis – Open. So, all in all, I’m a little disappointed. I could say I’m OUTRAGED, because that seems to be the thing to feign these days! But, that would be completely disingenuous of me . . . just as it is of most of the people who feign to be so. Lighten the heck up, folks! Life is too damn short to be showing such histrionics. Agree. Disagree. And agree to disagree . . . then move on.
All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends. No need to alert ralis95. Three of the jumbles did come up as new, with “snutt” having definitely been used before. I had to laugh, when I figured out “chair”. The jumble “harci” really had me going for about 30 seconds! The answer letter layout was an admirable eleven letter jumble. But the clue/question, and the answer spaces, really made this answer a no-brainer, for me.
Fine tennis court cartoon. The favored guy looks a little nondescript. Possibly an older Jimmy Connors. But, the winner is reminiscent of a young John McEnroe. I’m just getting the feeling of an earlier time. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
