Visual Description: My frequent complaint with Microsoft!
VRIRE = RIVER, SOYMS = MOSSY, DIDNHE = HIDDEN, NLHECC = CLENCH — Giving us: IEMOSDDNLEC
Clue/Question: When it came to having his positronic brain replaced, the android was – – –
Answer: CLOSE–MINDED
(I get the pun, but I disagree with the assertion! Objecting to unnecessary changes is not being “close-minded”. They’re always coming out with “newer”, and – supposedly – “better” versions of electronics, that make the older ones essentially obsolete, because they no longer want to support the older versions. It’s annoying as Hell. These companies do not adhere to the old saw: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Because, similar to planned obsolescence, they want us to continuously be buying their stuff. And, of course they use slick marketing to both entice us – and shame us – into giving up what has been working for us. It’s both a game and a trap. But, none of you care about the truth I try to impart on you. Do you?
No new clue words today. “Mossy” spells out in alphabetical order. And, all the jumbles appear to be new. The answer letter layout is a masterful eleven letter jumble. It gave nothing away.
Great cartoon though! Cool looking robot/android. Artificial Intelligence is getting more sophisticated all the time. We used to snicker at the idea of “The Terminator” coming true, but now the possibility of the machines taking over seems to be inching closer to reality. I do NOT want a robotic companion! No matter how “lifelike” or attractive. Hopefully, I’ll be gone by the time that comes my way. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“But, none of you care about the truth I try to impart on you. Do you?”
We do, we do. Sing it, brother!
/good puzzles this week… on a roll…
BTW the phrase “positronic brain” referring to a robot’s CPU should get a Hatlo Tip o’ the Hat to Isaac Asimov. The concept and phrase have been employed in many post-Asimov sci-fi works including Star Trek and Doctor Who.
I hear you, Unc!
In my view…Not a very good all-around Puzzle~
But here goes;
The Android was HIDDEN near
the MOSSY RIVER…Jaws CLENCHed in dread of a positronic brain transplant that it felt was not needed.
So the Android eloped with a researcher’s
daughter & lived happily ever after with three
little Droids, born in a rather curious manner!!☆♡♡

Whitney Cummings had a robot double built for her Netflix special. Body is by one of those sex doll companies, and the head is by the company that made Sophia. They made a mold of her face, built the head, and it mates to the body. It performs a lot like Sophia, except the vocal programmings are to Whitney’s mindset as a comedian. They were on the Today Show a week or so ago, no footage of that, but there’s this. It’s NSFW due to language, but it’s an example of what can be done with the state of the industry. She said it costs $100K, $6K for the body, $30K for the base head, and the rest for add-ons and programming. 😀 😀
NSFW!
Freaky shit, Damid! But, this Whitney lady is very funny! — YUR
Preaching to the choir, dear uncle – I still have a flip phone (now christened a Dumb Phone by backformation). And incidentally, the phrase is closed-minded.
I’m with you, Mark. That’s why I put it in quotes in my comments! But, it was still a fun Jumble — YUR
I finally caved and got a smartphone but until I did referred to my old reliable flip phone as a “dumb phone” too. The biggest problem for me was trying to text on the numeric keyboard. Just too slow for me. Many people prefer texts to emails or calls these days.
Re: close-minded vs. closed-minded, Mark, while closed-minded is preferable, close-minded is commonly used and considered an acceptable alternate form per The Grammarist: https://grammarist.com/spelling/closed-minded/
… so I think DLH’s pun that drops the “d” sound works fine.
