People Are Strange

Let’s try to be sensitive to this, folks. We can be better. — YUR

People are going to be mean. They will be inconsiderate and sometimes cruel or unsympathetic in their expectations and understanding. We will misunderstand one another and create barriers of disassociation. And it hurts. This pain, it can bring out the worst in us. It can distort how we interact with others. How we see ourselves or even, how we believe others see us in return. People are going to use you. They will manipulate your pain, sometimes without meaning. They will let their insecurities drive focus of opinion into a kind-of forced interpretation of reality that only ever exists in their minds. We lose ourselves in the isolation of thought. We lose each other.

“People are strange when you’re a stranger
Faces look ugly when you’re alone
Women seem wicked when you’re unwanted
Streets are uneven when you’re down”

Answer:  AIDING AND ABETTING

( . . . the house!  Because, in the long run, the house always wins.  So, if you want to attribute a criminal element to casino gambling, they – the casinos – would be considered the “perps”.  And, the gamblers would be the “vics”.  Understanding probabilities, and having a good head for numbers, can increase your chances of winning.  But, generally, only for so long.

We have yet another – surprisingly – new clue word today, in “darker”.  Our dear friend, ralis95, will once again be updating his world famous clue word database!  All of today’s jumbles came up as new.  The only one to really trip me up was “aimurt”.  I didn’t have to back into it – thank God – but I definitely found it tough.  The answer letter layout was a super seventeen letter long jumble!  I double clutched a bit coming up with the final answer.  Initially, I thought it might be more specific to blackjack, but that got me nowhere.  But, I figured the three letter word was AND, and that at least the first word was ending in ING.  A light bulb went off, and the quotation marks led me to the pun aspect of the answer.

Fine cartoon of a casino blackjack table.  You can see slot machines in the background.  And, there’s a lot of detail on the table.  Great pun, and a great Jumble!  Be well and do well, friends.)   —   YUR
