Cryptoquote Spoiler – 07/02/19

Great individuals, not great organization men, make a college or university great.”   —   Harold W. Dodds

(I struggled to get this one started.  Even though the “P” appeared to be either the “A”, or the “I”, I was worried that it might be one of those weird spacing things, and it could have been part of the “GJQQFMF” on the next line.  I thought the repeated word might be POWER or HUMAN, but couldn’t do anything with those.  The two big words were real posers, until I figured out COLLEGE and GREAT.  And, I never got Harold’s middle initial.  I had to Google that.  He was a long time President of Princeton University, which definitely explains the quote.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  ONE TREK MIND

(A very clever Jumble!  And, one that took me a little time to solve.  I saw the quotation marks, but didn’t immediately go for TREK.  When I checked off those letters it left me with MENNODI, and I first thought that the first word might be NON, but there would need to be a hyphen between it and TREK.  I finally saw ONE, and with the MNDI I figured out MIND . . . and the great pun!  There was a question on “Jeopardy” last night where the answer was “pun”.  Of course, I got the answer.  And, of course, the quote about puns was derogatory.  But, I don’t recall it.  Some Philistine, no doubt!

Hoyt is taking a break from bombarding us with new clue words.  He doesn’t want to tire ralis95 out!  Two of the jumbles appear to be new, with both “jyeon” and “tonkyt” having definitely been used before.  I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, “knotty” is one of those words that spells out in alphabetical order.  The answer letter layout was a great eleven letter jumble.  It did an admirable job of disguising the final answer.

A fine “Star Trek” convention cartoon.  I was a “fan” of the original series, and the movies with those original cast characters/actors.  I did enjoy the “TNG” series, for a while.  But, I lost interest in it after a time.  And, never got into the later iterations, at all.  I can only call myself a “fan” of anything in the most general sense.  My personality does not lend itself to any kind of fanatical behavior.  I know many who do, but for me it’s just silly.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
