Curtain Raiser

Hopefully, some of these issue will come up in the Democratic candidates debate! I hear the opening of the debate will feature all the candidates spilling out of a clown car! — YUR

Time to Fight & Be Proud, Colltalers

It’s deja vu all over again. The Trump administration’s threatened to bomb another country, but Iran may be tougher a foe than North Korea. Whether the crisis is averted, is not the president’s concern; having a war at the ready to help on his reelection is.
But the world is, indeed, concerned about it. Such a conflict would surely spill over the Middle East and boost the more than 70 million kicked out of their homes by wars, according to a United Nations study released on World Refugee Day. Worried yet?
The climate emergency is very much part of both equations. For instance, a report by NOAA, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric agency, found that global carbon dioxide emissions reached the highest levels in 61 years, last May, 3.5 ppm higher than the 411.2 ppm 2018 peak. In the same period, floods…

    Thanks for the reblogging, Yur.
Please no more clowns, assumed or not, anywhere on earth.
(It may be time for Seinfeld to make a statement about that).
‘Cause none of them are funny… Katchun!! Cheers

Does Donald Trump really want a war ?
    I think not.

President Trump craves popularity. When coffins of dead American troops start showing up at dover AFB, the glow on his popularity will start to fade. Notice how he looked for a convenient excuse to not bomb Iran after they destroyed our $130 million drone.

Notice that his bargaining style is manipulative by making threats demanding a response to please him. Eventually, they will tire of his threats and do nothing. He’ll then have to come up with new tricks.

Poll numbers would disagree with your assessment, lwc. Of the 14 major polls Trump’s Approval rating ranges from 39 to 49%, for an average Approval rating of 43%. His highest (Gallop) Approval rating has not topped 46%. Of the last 27 Presidents, Trump’s highest Approval rating is the lowest of the 27, so far in his Presidency. NOT so surprising, of the Presidents with the highest Approval ratings, their highest ratings were recorded around the time they announced one form, or another, of military action. FDR a few weeks following Pearl Harbor, Truman after dropping the A-bomb, Kennedy’s blockading of Cuba, GHW Bush following Desert Storm, and GW Bush 10 days after 9/11.

The American people have become more savvy in sussing out contrived *incidents*, which is why Trump knew that his *retaliation* for the drone downing would not be popular.
