Answer:  STRIKE A DEAL

(Well, we are entering the heart of the baseball season!  Both hockey and basketball will soon become distant memories, and football is still pretty far off.  That other *football*, better known to us Yanks as soccer, seems to be never ending.  And, from my perspective, and many/most Americans . . . meh.  Knurek has some kind of a bounce ball game, that he invented, that appears to be growing, but I think it’s still kind of a niche sport.  And, then there’s golf and tennis, which I will occasionally watch, but I’m not a “fan” in the truest sense of the word.  I also love the horse races, but they’ve closed down so many of the OTBs that I don’t know where to place a side bet, and my newspaper’s sports page has become a total joke!  I really fear that the newspaper is at the edge of folding.  But, enough about sports and such, you guys are here for the Jumble!  Yes, STRIKE A DEAL is a good pun.

I think David L. Hoyt is in a hurry to get those remaining *new words* out to us, because we seem to have another one today in “canary”.  Our good friend, ralis95, will be updating his world famous database yet again!  One day, in the not too distant future, *new words* will only be for actual new words to the dictionary!  All of today’s jumbles appear to be new.  I didn’t struggle with any of them.  The answer letter layout was a cryptic eleven letter jumble.  For some reason, I was a little slow on the uptake.  I knew the last two words had to be A DEAL, but I wrote out ISKETR before realizing the pun.  I still don’t feel completely awake, and it’s already way past noon!

Fun baseball backroom cartoon.  We’ve got the player, his agent, and then either the general manager, or perhaps an owner, trying to reach an accord.  The agent resembles a Tom Cruise/Jerry Maguire kind of character.  Great Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

    Soccer seems never ending because the US pro schedule isn’t in line with the rest of the world, especially Europe. Even so, their season starts in late Jul/early Aug, and runs through May. Then there are the summer tournaments, like the World Cup, etc. The pros play a ton of games, and considering most play the entire game, the mileage adds up. A top player like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi playing for club and country could approach 60 games in a year (38 games in domestic league, 4-5 games in the League Cup, 5-6 for Euro club competition, and we’re not even talking any national team participation). The final games could be as late as early July (World Cup), and training camp for the next season starts in late July. But those guys would most likely get a lot of time off, as they had no vacation. Still, there’s a growing chorus regarding whether players are playing too much every year.

    Major League Baseball Att. is down again for this time of year from last year. Only 3-4
    teams are up^
    I still truly enjoy being in person at the games. The fact that there isn’t any clock on the overall nine innings is great!!
    {{Cleveland Indians-Home Team}}….Great
    Hot Dogs & Mustard!!!*… ((The Owners & Top Management made some StupiD strategy decisions before the start of the season■¿))

    Oh well…back to Jumble: (Sentence deleted by page administrator!)
    To STRIKE A DEAL has truly changed in dimensions from, let’s say, 25 yrs. ago$$…

    Hitting a Major League pitch is the most difficult skill in all of team sports. Example;
    Ty Cobb had a .367 lifetime BA, the highest in the looong history of MLB….That meant 633 times out of 1,000 he failed****!!!! to register a hit…If one could AVG close to that now, your
    talking approx. 40 – 50 million $$$ a year + all the endorsements>>>>WOW
    (Being an NHL Goalie and stopping that rocket of a puck being half blocked/screened off in sight many times a game is a close second)

    That’s all folks…….
    Be Blessed

    Sorry, Ken. I had to delete one of your sentences, as it does not apply to the Jumble of 06/06/2019. Any form of “help” for the current Jumble is prohibited, unless expressly requested by yer Uncle Rave.

    It’s great for the fans, I guess. There just seems to be so many leagues, and I guess their seasons kind of overlap. When I was a teen, I was a big fan of the NASL. My home team was the Rochester Lancers. I was fortunate enough to see Pele play during his twilight playing years, with the Cosmos! — YUR
