(Definitely NOT what I was expecting!  I almost threw the towel in on this one, and was going to ask the faithful for today’s answer.  The four letter word in quotes really threw me off.  I kept thinking FISH or CAST had to be part of the pun.  I never would have thought that the pun was on the word “spot”.  I was thinking the answer had to be in the past tense, but there was no D.  I did not pick up on the word CAUGHT until I was starting to write this post.  And even then, after figuring the last two words were OF IT, I had to write out IEST, before catching the pun.  Was it just me, or did any of you struggle with this one?

No new clue words today.  Three of the jumbles appear to be new, with “noggi” having definitely been used before.  I had a tough time unscrambling “clnieh” to make “lichen”!  The answer letter layout made for a very tough – for me – fourteen letter jumble.  I found it to be very cryptic.

Great cartoon of an older couple preparing to fish on a mountain lake.  It looked, to me, like they probably argue a lot.  I liked the fish jumping out of the water, in the background.  Tricky Jumble for me!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Had all the same difficulties. But I finally got this one, unlike yesterday, when I turned to Uncle

Like a fishing hook on a big stick at the bottom, I got hung up a little bit, though this time it didn’t take me as long to land the fish as you, Unc. That’s okay; you got last Sunday much faster than I did. I figured that today, IT was the last word, AT, OF, or TO was the third word, and then my line hung because I wanted an -ED for the first word, and there’s no D. So I thought I needed a six-letter past tense verb with no -ED, and got lucky and saw CAUGHT in the letters pretty soon after that. But then I wanted SIGHT which is too long, until I filled in CAUGHT and saw the four letters that were left after plugging in OF. You punsters! Another good Friday puzzle, clue, and cartoon.

You weren’t the only one, UR! The curious use of “angler” instead of “fisher” strongly suggested that FISH or FISHED would be in the answer. CAUGHT “SITE” OF IT isn’t limited to fishing … ahem, angling. But hey, this makes two days in a row for a somewhat challenging Jumble!

Well, now I know I’m in good company, if Joy, Roy and David struggled some! Thanks, guys! — YUR

Never knew, or even imagined, that the alternate Def. of LICHEN was a skin disease
with “small pimples and bumbs”?? Nice to learn stuff. Regardless, I had difficulty with
    this Friday gem!!*

Super and safe weekend for all>◇◇ & if you are looking/hopeful for something over the next couple of days; Wish that you and/or yours are able to say I/we CAUGHT “SITE” OF IT^!!

I got stuck on cast, since the clue letters ended with AST, that just got me onto the wrong track and it stuck there. 😦

Maybe that was a little bit of misdirection, Damid. I think they *reeled* a lot of us in with that! — YUR
