If you don’t love yourself, you’ll always be chasing after people who don’t love you either.”   —   Mandy Hale

(Another young, current female author . . . that I’d never heard of before!  Would she be considered “woke”?   I don’t get why you’d use the past tense of wake, when you could just as easily – and more correctly – use awake.  Don’t mind me.  I just didn’t have much to say about this quote, and I’m just riffin’ a bit.  Okay, I suppose there is truth to the quote.  I always wondered why so many women seem to go after the “bad” boys.  I guess they just have low self-esteem.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I understand your perplexity at “woke,” UR, but I am starting to appreciate that this is a condensed way of saying “extremely politically correct and virtue signaling.” Before long, it will be pejorative.

Well, then sign me up for the antonym of “woke”, old friend! LOL! I’m an avowed old tree-hugging pinko, but I feel my fellow “liberals” have gone way too far with “political correctness”, to the point of outright censorship . . . bordering on fascism. — YUR

Well, unc, you finally hit a topic I can riff on:
“…why so many women seem to go after the “bad” boys ?…”

The answer is easy: It’s the challenge.
Why do cowboys ride wild, bucking broncos that would just as soon kill them ?
They want to prove they can tame them.

Some girls think their ‘love’ is so great and so pure that this bad boy will go straight just for her, even after she saw that he was a skunk with all the other girls.

It’s the immaturity of youth. Many girls have to mature before figuring out that no guy will change until he’s good and ready, which usually takes a while for young men.

In these modern times, no girl should consider getting serious with a guy until she’s been out of the house for a while and taking care of herself… maybe about 29 or 30 years old. By that time, most of the men she knows will have matured or she’ll be mature enough to discern the ones who haven’t.

That’s my take; any arguments I’ll take on one at a time.
