Visual Description: Commuter inconvenience.
AVEWE = WEAVE, NRITP = PRINT, CENDRH = DRENCH, ROCAGU – COUGAR — Giving us: EAEPRIDRNUR
Clue/Question: They used the subway to go to work every day except when it was – – –
Answer: UNDER REPAIR
(Dig it. Looks like they’re going to have to walk to the next station. Unless the entire line is down, then they’ll have to go to a different line, or catch a bus. Commuting can be a big hassle for city dwellers. Fun pun. Better smelling than some subway stations, no doubt.
All of today’s clue words are old favorites. Three of the jumbles appear to be new, with only “avewe” having definitely been used before. The answer letter layout was a challenging eleven letter jumble. I figured UNDER right off the bat, but had to write out AEPRIR to see REPAIR.
Fine urban themed cartoon. The “workers” look more like students, with those backpacks on. But, what do I know? I haven’t ridden the subway in a number of years. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

That their regular modus operandi of the friends to get to work being the Subway Train that was “UNDER REPAIR”, they had to come up with another solution.
They PRINTED out the best route to walk to their jobs. They had to WEAVE the busy streets
of NYC with the quickness/cunning of a COUGAR. A problem was also a sudden downpour of Spring rain that might DRENCH them. The negative clincher to cancel this plan was the total time factor…
THE other options were to bum a ride, cab or bus. They found a great bus route that proved
to be the best, temporary, solution.
They rued over the shut down Subway Train they normally took but came to a better appreciation/liking of that System!!*]
