Cryptoquote Spoiler – 04/06/19

Lots of people know a good thing the minute the other fellow sees it first.”   —   J. E. Hedges

(The internet attributes this quote to a Job E. Hodges, but I can’t find anyone with that name.  There is a Job E. Hedges though, and he was an attorney and a Republican political activist in New York over a hundred years ago.  He was likely one of those powers behind the scenes.  He authored a book titled “Common Sense in Politics”, and maybe this is a line from the book.  So, I guess we welcome Job E. Hedges to the Cryptoquote Club today.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  STICK TOGETHER

(This sticky pun is a good stinky pun!  Pun haters around the world are groaning loudly.  But, film buffs are getting a good chuckle from it.  Sally Field won a Best Actress Oscar for her role as Norma Rae, in the film of the same name, way back in 1980.

All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends, but all of the jumbles are coming up as new.  None of them tripped me up any though.  The answer letter layout was a great thirteen letter jumble.  Nicely cryptic, indeed.  The big clue came in the clue/question, with it being a glue factory!

Fine factory cartoon.  Very reminiscent of “Norma Rae”.  Sally beat out some big names that year.  Jill Clayburgh, Jane Fonda, Marsha Mason and Bette Midler.  Back in those days I’d have watched a good number of the nominated movies, but nowadays only one or two.  This year I saw “Green Book”, “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “A Star is Born”.  Of those three I actually liked “A Star is Born” best.  It’s a very moving story, and the entire cast was great.  Enjoy the weekend, folks.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
