Cryptoquote Spoiler – 03/19/19

I probably couldn’t play for me.  I wouldn’t like my attitude.”   —   John Thompson

(Good one, coach!  I wonder if Bobby Knight would admit to this?  We welcome John Thompson to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 03/19/19

Visual Description:  How the Democratic primary race is shaping up.

LRIFL  =  FRILL,  CIFHN  =  FINCH,  YOGAVE  =  VOYAGE,  FRONUF  =  RUNOFF   —   Giving us:  FRINNCOAEROF

Clue/Question:  When the winner of the marathon got into politics, he – – –

Answer:  RAN FOR OFFICE

(This was giving me a very general impression of Beto O’Rourke.  He’s one of the younger, more vibrant, of the Democratic candidates who have entered the Primary field for 2020.  It’s beginning to look like the start of a marathon race for the Dems.  If you thought the Republican field back in 2015-16 was a little much, well then, hold onto your hats!  I think we’re up to 16 announced, with a potential of 20 people seeking the Democratic nomination.  Most of them seem to be running on a version of Bernie Sanders’ 2016 campaign, which is a little ironic, as back in 2015-16 the corporate media sold us the mantra:  “But he can’t possibly win.”  Maybe, instead of the crassest candidate, who ran away with it in 2016, the classiest will prevail in 2020.  One can only hope.

None of today’s clue words are new candidates for the ralis95 clue word database.  Some we haven’t seen in a while, but definitely not new.  Three of the jumbles appear to be new, with only “yogave” having definitely been used before.  The answer letter layout was a great twelve letter jumble, but the answer was definitely a front runner.

Classic marathon race cartoon.  Everyone crossing the Finish line celebrates as if they won, because just finishing a marathon is winning.  Not the same with a Presidential Primary though!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
