Sunday Cryptoquote Spoiler – 03/03/19

You don’t know what pressure is until you play for five bucks with only two in your pocket.”   —   Lee Trevino

(One of my all-time favorite golfers.  I was around for his first major win, the 1968 U.S. Open, at Oak Hill Country Club, in Rochester, NY.  Back then, people exiting the tournament would give you their day pass, and you could go right in.  My friends and I went up to the club house and refreshment tents and got autographs from the golfers who had finished for the day.  I wasn’t able to get Lee’s, but I did get Arnold Palmer’s and a bunch of other pros, including Bobby Nichols and Charles Sifford.   Charlie was the first African American to play on the PGA Tour!  I’ve held onto that day pass with all the autographs on it all these years.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
