Clue/Question: After receiving a patent for the rubber heel, Humphrey O’Sullivan made – – –

Answer: GREAT STRIDES
(What were they before, just wood? I can see why rubber would have made them better. Better cushioning for comfort, and better traction for safety. Pretty cool. I’m a little surprised it took 50 + years for someone to put the two together. Goodyear vulcanized rubber, and was granted a patent in 1844. O’Sullivan got his patent in 1899. Luckily, for him, no one else thought of it.
All old familiar clue words today. We’ve seen the jumble “dogrun” before, but the others all appear to be new. Great 12-letter jumble answer letter layout. I kind of saw GREAT STRIDES right away though. I think that swapping the order of both the five and six letter clue words would have made for a more challenging jumble. RSTTEAEISGRD is a little more cryptic.
Fun cobbler cartoon. I didn’t quite pick up that turn of the century vibe, but I liked all the shoe stuff, and the patent design. I like that the guys are digging into history for new Jumble pun material. It shows a lot of initiative. Kudos, boys! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
