Jumble Spoiler – 02/09/19

Visual Description:  The bane of most of our lives.

Clue/Question:  The telemarketer with emotional issues had a lot of – – –

Answer:  HANGUPS

(What’s worse?  Being robo-called, or getting a long-winded automated phone system when you make a call?  They’re both about as dehumanizing and maddening as you can get.  I bet that Alexander Graham Bell is spinning in his grave!  At least you can hang up on the robo-caller.  Or better yet, not answer them at all, when you’re fairly certain that’s what they are.  Why can’t more companies hire – and retain – live customer service reps?  Because it’s so much cheaper to have these automated systems, that – eventually . . . if you’re lucky – connect you with an outsourced service rep, in India or the Philippines.  Or maybe some housebound recluse in Paducah.  With all that money they’re saving some corporate fat-cat is building a second, or third, summer house by the lake or shore.  America!  What a country!

Hey, guess what, jumbleheads?  Yes, Hoyt has given us yet another new clue word.  Until today, we have never seen “septum” used as a Jumble clue word.  Maybe ralis95 will enter this into his world famous clue word database.  Maybe he won’t feel like it.  Life’s a crap shoot, folks.  Three of the jumbles are coming up as new, with “cankk” having been used before.  The answer letter layout was a very modest seven letters.  Nothing obvious about it though.

Dandy cubicle cartoon.  I don’t think people are meant to work this way.  At least not for a prolonged period of time.  It looks more suited to rodents, to me.  I bet their “system” makes all the calls for them.  Sheesh.  Ironically, the best call I’ve had recently was when I called my healthcare insurer.  It took me a little time to get to him, but eventually Randy and I had a very pleasant, and constructive conversation.  So, I guess there are some good ones out there.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I had to back into Septum. And even then, I had problems recognizing it. The cube list was interesting. Seems to be names of puzzle authors. The last is probably Will Shortz, a crossword editor.

Maybe, it was a lead-in to today’s Jumble! — YUR
