Cryptoquote Spoiler – 02/02/19

Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.”   —   Albert Schweitzer

(Big Al . . . strikes again!  I’m pretty sure we had another of his quotes just within the last month.  I’m always open to a good gratitude quote though.  I think “gratitude” is one of those things you have to smack people on the head with, every now and then.  It seems, more often, that people like to whine about all their troubles!  And, if they’re not complaining, they’re taking all their graces for granted.  Appreciate what you got, folks.  Things can always be worse.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  I wonder if Sam Elliot could pull off a German accent?   😉   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – Groundhog’s Day 2019

Visual Description:  Fawn . . . near the lawn.

AFROV  =  FAVOR,  NRTKU  =  TRUNK,  SUMSIE  =  MISUSE,  LETWAH  =  WEALTH   —   Giving us:  AORTRNMUEETH

Clue/Question:  The deer gave birth and knew what to do thanks to her – – –

Answer:  MOTHER NATURE

(Aww!  How can anyone call a cute Jumble like this a stinky pun?  It’s got Bambi, Bambi’s mom, Thumper . . . and Sqiggles the squirrel.  Okay, I made that last one up.  It’s got a nice ring to it though.  I’m a little surprised that Jeff couldn’t have worked in a groundhog!  In case you haven’t heard, both Punxsatawney Phil and Staten Island Chuck did NOT see their shadows this morning!  And, you know what that means!  Nothing really.  “Spring is right around the corner”???  How friggin’ vague is that?!!  It can mean any time less than six weeks.  It’s really just a silly superstitious “tradition”, and you know folks love their traditions!

None of today’s clue words came up as new.  No need to bother our old pal, ralis95.  Two of the jumbles appear to be new though, with both “sumsie” and “letwah” having definitely been used before.  The answer letter layout was a very impressive 12-letter jumble.  I thought it disguised the answer very nicely.  I think the leading nature of the clue/question, along with cartoon’s dialog, made getting the answer almost instinctive.

Really cute cartoon.  Not sure why Jeff decided to go with a father and son at the window.  Maybe it was an equal time thing?  Anyway, this was a fun Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
