Jumble Spoiler – 01/15/19

Visual Description:  More mall follies.

SUDEO  =  DOUSE,  RYDEB  =  DERBY,  NASTOA  =  SONATA,  TNNTIE  =  INTENT   —   Giving us:  DUSRBYSAENT

Clue/Question:  The people waiting to pay for their purchases were – – –

Answer:  BUYSTANDERS

(Queuing always involves standing, now doesn’t it?  That’s why the Yanks call it standing in line.  And, whenever there is a big sale there are going to be a lot of shoppers.  There are only so many checkout counters, so all those buyers are going to have to stand in line to pay.  Don’t you just love these Captain Obvious moments?

Besides all the clue words already being in the ralis95 clue word database, they are all in the Jumble Clue Word Hall of Fame!  Three of the jumbles came up as new, with our old friend “sudeo” making a return appearance.  I had a little trouble with “nastoa”, but I didn’t have to back into it, or anything.  The answer letter layout was a nicely challenging 11-letter jumble.  I would not call today’s final answer a gimme by any means.  I bet a good number of you struggled to get it.

This may be a first for the jumble cartoons.  It’s almost like a sequel, as it incorporated a good portion of yesterday’s cartoon in today’s.  I cannot remember Jeff ever doing this before, but it was very clever.  Maybe this will start a trend!  Or, maybe it’s a one-off.  Either way, it was fun.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I’ve never stopped to think about mall-related puns … once you’ve seen one bunch of stores, you’ve seen …

Su Su Sudeo! My favorite Jumble word. As usual, I had to think a bit to get Douse. I should write that down somewhere. I figured the first word was Buy. I thought the second word might end in ED, but that left a garble. Looking at all the remainders got the right answer. 😀
