Cryptoquote Spoiler – 01/03/19

Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity.”   —   Hippocrates

(I’d say that it demonstrates a general love for all life!  This appears to be the first quote from the esteemed Hippocrates, to be used as a Cryptoquote, since I’ve been posting these spoilers at least.  A posthumous welcome to the Cryptoquote Club!  Stay well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler -01/03/19

Visual Description:  Early 1970?

RTLIF  =  FLIRT,  CEYAD  =  DECAY,  NRIHUC  =  URCHIN,  PSOOEP  =  OPPOSE   —   Giving us:  FRDEUNOO

Clue/Question:  When it became clear they were breaking up, the Beatles were – – –

Answer:  DONE FOUR

(I was but a wee lad at the time.  Twelve years old, or so.  In those days most people blamed Yoko Ono for the breakup of the Beatles.  Blaming an avant garde Asian woman artist was low-hanging fruit.  But, there were so many factors in their demise as a band.  It all kind of started going downhill following their decision to stop touring. And, then the death of their manager, Brian Epstein, really affected their dynamic of unity.  Artistic differences grew, egos inflated, and . . . shit happens.  Some people treated it like it was the end of the world, but life and music went on.  All good things must come to an end, as the old saying goes.

All four clue words were already in the ralis95 clue word hall of fame.  Yet, all of their jumbles appear to be making their debut today.  I found them all to be fairly easy solves.  The answer letter layout was a fun eight letter jumble.  Because of the Beatle’s nickname of “The Fab Four”, I quickly surmised that one of the answer words was FOUR.  When I saw the DENO . . . I was DONE . . . and I got the pun!

The cartoon was masterful.  The likenesses of John, Paul, George and Ringo were uncanny.  And, I really liked how the guys worked in the titles of each one of their early solo pieces into their individual pieces of dialog.  The old reel-to-reel tape recorder was very fitting also.  Great Jumble, for someone of my age group at least.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  How strange was it that besides “Mean” Gene Okerlund passing yesterday, also Bob “Super Dave Osborn” Einstein AND “Captain” Daryl Dragon – of the singing group Captain and Tennille – died!   And, they were all 76 years old!  Deaths of celebrities coming in threes is not unusual, but all on the same day, and all of the same age, is definitely one for the record books.  76 is definitely not young, but it’s not all that old, by today’s standards.  Does this weird coincidence mean anything?  I wouldn’t worry about it.  I think it just shows that the universe has a strange sense of humor.  Peace.   —   YUR
