Clue/Question: The grand opening of the rec center’s new pool – – –

Answer: CAUSED A SPLASH
(A wet stinky pun! With chlorinated overtones, naturally. Always remember to shower before and after swimming in a pool. After . . . for yourself. Before . . . for everybody else.
All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends. The jumble “rabpul” has been used before, but the other three came up as new. I thought all of them presented a bit of a challenge, though none were too tough. The answer letter layout was a nicely cryptic thirteen letter jumble. I did not find it obvious, in the least. The biggest clues came from the cartoon and the son’s line of dialog.
Great cartoon of an indoor pool. This looks like Jeff’s family, from a few years ago. The slightly more subtle clue is in the cartoon’s background, where you can see some people diving into the pool. Even the smoothest of dives is going to cause a bit of a splash. When we watch diving in the Olympics – probably the only time we actually watch diving – our main comment is usually about how much of a splash was made. We know nothing about diving, but we always figure that the smaller splash the better. One of those less is more kinda deals.
This made for a fun Jumble. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
