Cryptoquote Spoiler – 12/01/18

If we cannot now end our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity.”   —   John F. Kennedy

(You’d think that that would be the case.  But, here we are, 55 years later, still struggling to overcome our tribal differences.  Things have never been ideal, but the world has experienced a steady decline in tolerance since the events of 9/11 2001.  Fear and mistrust are driving us further apart, and I have this feeling of dread that it has all been by design.  We cannot give into it.  We need to fight against the tactics of fear, before they completely tear us apart.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  COME TO PASS

(Yay!  A stinky football pun!  I love it.  And, it hits on a big college conference championship Saturday.  Maybe Jeff will go watch Northwestern vs. Ohio State, at Lucas Oil Stadium, in Indianapolis.  I’m sure he’d love to root against Ohio State!

None of today’s clue words are entering the ralis95 clue word hall of fame, as they are already enshrinees.  Three of the jumbles appear to be new, with “cafrot” having definitely been used before.  That jumble tripped me up for a minute or so, before I saw “factor”.  I did not need to back into it though, but it is a superior jumble.  The answer letter layout was a sublime 10-letter jumble.  If you were not familiar with adages and idioms, this might have been a tough solve for you.  Although, this could be said of most Jumbles.

Fun cartoon.  It could be draft day, or the day that the kid was formally introduced by the NFL team who dratted him.  On a totally different thought, my wife and I witnessed a very stunned red-bellied woodpecker on my decaying deck, about an hour ago.  We think he flew into the house or something, because he was pretty much out of it.  Just blinking, but not moving.  But, after around ten minutes, he started to come around, moving his neck and a subtle rustling of his feathers.  Finally, he actually started moving his legs, and then he was able to fly off.  He went into our spruce tree, and then flew away.  He was lovely, and we were so happy for him!  Sometimes that’s all it takes when you experience that kind of shock.  You just need a little time to catch your breath, and shake off the cobwebs.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
