Cryptoquote Spoiler – 11/29/18

Be your own artist, and always be confident in what you’re doing.  If you’re not going to be confident, you might as well not be doing it.”   —   Aretha Franklin

(Words of wisdom from the “Queen of Soul”?  This is the first time one of her quotes has made it to the Cryptoquote, since I’ve been doing these spoilers.  Welcome to the Cryptoquote Club, Aretha!  It’s always better to be confident, but isn’t stage fright kind of a lack of confidence?  There are many performers who have to deal with stage fright.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 11/29/18

Visual Description:  Planning Paris’ panorama.

ITAOR  =  RATIO,  OPMHR  =  MORPH,  LOVTIE  =  VIOLET,  EYEWLA  =  LEEWAY   —   Giving us:  RTOMRHVOETEEW

Clue/Question:  Gustave Eiffel was shorter than most Parisians, but he was able to – – –

Answer:  TOWER OVER THEM

(WOW!  I can’t remember when I last had trouble unscrambling two jumbles, but today I did.  I even had to resort to backing into one of them.  And, even then it took me some time.  Fortunately, even without the four missing letters, the final answer was pretty obvious.

There are no new clue words today, but three of the jumbles are coming up as new.  I thought that “eyewla” was somewhat of a challenge.  But, it was the return of “lovtie” that caused me fits once again!  It wasn’t until I tried OIVLET that I was able to see “violet”.  The funny thing is, I’m pretty sure that violets were the first flower I learned of, as a small boy, following my Mother around the garden.  She enjoyed gardening, and instilled in me an appreciation for flora.  The answer letter layout was a fine 13-letter jumble, but the cartoon and the clue/question, set up for a fairly obvious answer.

The cartoon was wonderful.  The partially complete tower, the plans on the makeshift desk, and the Frenchie dudes were all great.  Especially the one with the Poirot mustache!  Maybe, someday I’ll get to Paris, and see the Eiffel Tower for myself.  That would be nice.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
