Clue/Question: Building homes on the mountain was difficult, but the developer – – –
Pre-Answer: Six Words (3-letters) (3-letters) “(5-letters)” (3-letters) ON (2-letters)
Answer: HAD HIS “SITES“ SET ON IT
(I knew the first word was going to be HAS or HAD. At first I thought one of the three letter words might be THE, but I was certain the last word was going to be IT. It worked out to be very a very nice pun!
All of the clue words are old favorites. Five of the jumbles came up as new, with “virred” having been used before. Excellent answer letter layout. It disguised the final solution thoroughly.
The “Edelweiss Estates” sign in Jeff’s cartoon threw me for a little bit. I was trying to think of some line, or lyric, from “The Sound of Music” for a couple of minutes. But, the bigger hints were really in the dialog, with the words “looks” and “vision”. I really didn’t pick up on the “Wonderful Views Available” until much later. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

This was another Sunday, one of several annually, where you would have to be a newspaper-and-pencil solver of Jumble to get it done, because the online puzzle (at least in the Seattle Times https://www.seattletimes.com/games-universal/?amu=/iwin-jumble ) was messed up by syndication service Universal. There wasn’t room to fit “on” in the final answer, so the O and the N were scrunched together and stuck behind the first letter of the fourth word, where the word wasn’t apparent to me. I did jump on HAD and SITES immediately, but couldn’t find any combination of other words that made sense without the benefit of “on.” I finally hit the solve button, because I wasn’t getting anywhere. Waste of time today.
Sorry to hear that, David. Good thing I still get the print version. But, I never use pencil, even for the crossword puzzle. Always pen. No guts, no glory, bro! LOL! — YUR
I also use pen for this and crosswords as well. 🙂
