Cryptoquote Spoiler – 10/27/18

Don’t let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning.”   —   Robert Kiyosaki

(For some strange reason I went LOVING instead of LOSING!  It didn’t make the most sense, but that’s what I went with.  Of course, that made getting the author impossible, so I had to Google the quote.  It corrected me, and gave me the author at the same time.  I’ve never heard of the guy, so I guess this was kind of a fail for me.  Oh, well.  Can’t win them all.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 10/27/18

Visual Description:  Jeff’s in-laws?

COVAL  =  VOCAL,  MUYMR  =  RUMMY,  UENVAE  =  AVENUE,  GIFTRH  =  FRIGHT   —   Giving us:  VALRUMAEEFIGH

Clue/Question:  When he refused to wear his hearing aids, his wife – – –

Answer:  GAVE HIM AN EARFUL

(I think I know why Tom is not wearing those things!  He ain’t stupid.  I truly value all of my senses.  But, sometimes I wish I could just tune out the world.  Silence can be golden.  Right?

Old reliable clue words again.  But, all of the jumbles came up as new.  I was able to recognize all the words immediately though.  The answer letter layout was a great jumble.  I’m sure that some of you struggled a bit to get the final solution.  I was able to solve this one on Facebook, while I was away.  Occasionally, Jeff will post a Jumble to his FB page, when the subject involves a good friend, or relative.

Fine domestic scene, between an older couple.  If you have the reduced size cartoon you may not have seen that those are his hearing aids on the table.  I’m glad I don’t have to wear those damn things . . . yet.  Who knows, down the road!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Cryptoquote Spoiler – 11/02/18

If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way.  If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”   —   Jim Rohn

(Whenever I hear/see this name I think of the sports show guy, Jim Rome.  He’s still on the radio, and maybe occasionally TV, but he’ll always be remembered for instigating a fight with NFL quarterback Jim Everett, by repeatedly calling him “Chris”.  It was childish, but it brought him the notoriety that he was seeking.  Some people said it was staged, and I suppose it could have been.  Of course this has absolutely nothing to do with today’s quote, but some days are just like this.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 11/02/18

Visual Description:  Carol and I, on a Friday night?

ODIVE  =  VIDEO,  UIYNF  =  UNIFY,  SACCER  =  SCARCE,  GAAOPD  =  PAGODA   —   Giving us:  VDNIACEAOD

Clue/Question:  She wanted to tango with her husband but couldn’t get past his – – –

Answer: AVOIDDANCE

(That’s my favorite form of dance!  I love watching dance, especially the ballet, and modern, and jazz.  Even ballroom dancing is a great spectator sport, for me.  But, I have two left feet, and I’m far too conscientious and analytical about it.  I can’t just feel it.  I always overthink the steps.  Maybe hypnotism would work for me.  Alcohol has had limited success in getting me on the floor.  But, it’s never a pretty sight.

Once again, we’re dealing with old favorite clue words.  Three of the jumbles came up as new, with “odive” having definitely been used some time ago.  Very cryptic answer letter layout.  It gave nothing away.  The quotation marks and the hyphen were very helpful in getting the final solution.  I thought that it made for a splendid pun.

I feel bad for the wife.  She’s all dolled up, and ready to dance.  But he, like me, is behind on his puzzles.  Cyberspace is lovely, dark and deep, But I have spoilers to keep, And posts to go before I sleep, And posts to go before I sleep.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
