Clue/Question: People loved Don Rickles’ put-downs and insults. He was well paid for his – – –

Answer: I’M DRAWING A BLANK “EXPERT–TEASE“
(Which is pretty strange, because I was always a huge Don Rickles fan. A lot of people didn’t get him, and any comic trying to emulate him, in this day and – PC – age, would surely fail. But, he was a master at exploiting racial, ethnic, religious, and sexual stereotypes.
We appear to have yet another new clue word today, in “reuse”. A little surprising maybe, but I’m continually surprised by the absence of the most common words. CALL FOR RALIS95!!! All of the jumbles came up as new too. The answer letter layout has clearly baffled me. I thought it might be REPEAT something, or PATTER something, or even EXTRAP something, but no dice. Okay. I just got it! Whew! Nearly a second time this week!
Fantastic cartoon of “Mr. Warmth”, or “The Merchant of Venom”, as he was sometimes called. In my opinion, we’d be better off with more Don Rickles types, and less PC pussy-footers. We should be able to acknowledge our differences, while embracing our universality. But, the world has become cowed, and I’ve become kind of an anachronism. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
