Cryptoquote Spoiler – 09/20/18

The farther one gets into the wilderness, the greater is the attraction of its lonely freedom.”   —   Theodore Roosevelt

(Good ol’ Teddy!  The father of our national parks system.  He’s one of the few Republican President’s that today’s conservatives don’t seem to like, but liberals point to him as a progressive man of the people.  He must’ve done something right to get placed on Mt. Rushmore!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 09/20/18

Visual Description:  Post-bout, pre-nup proposal.

GALVE  =  GAVEL,  EESSN  =  SENSE,  BISTUM  =  SUBMIT,  ZIRWDA  =  WIZARD   —   Giving us:  GAESNESITIRD

Clue/Question:  When the boxer surprised her with a marriage proposal, she had a – – –

Answer:  RINGSIDE SEAT

(Yeah.  That’s a stinky pun alright.  Smells like a boxer who just went twelve rounds!  It’s a plausible scenario, I guess.  People today can’t seem to do anything subtly, or privately.  Everything has to be an over-the-top public display.  And of course, it has to be digitally recorded.  Then, they just have to put it out there, on some form of social media, so it can become an internet viral sensation!  These things have become so hokey and predictable that the “fails” are often more popular than the “wins”.  This morning they showed some couple who were to disclose the sex of their unborn child, by way of a piece of paper, saying “boy” or “girl”, inside an inflated balloon.  She was supposed to pop it, to reveal the baby’s gender.  She stabs at it, with something, but it didn’t pop, and that knocked it out of the person’s hands who was holding it.  Turns out the balloon was filled with helium, and it flew off, to everyone’s disappointment!  I thought it was hilarious!  And, I think the internet liked it too.

Besides there being no new clue words today, three of the jumbles were also old friends.  Only “zirwda” came up as new.  I liked “bistum”.  Just something about it sounds fun to me.  The answer letter layout was an excellent jumble.  Very nicely cryptic.

Great semi-boxing related cartoon.  I liked the ring announcers, and the celebrity next to the boxer looks like Bono.  He’s a frequent ringside fan of the bigger bouts.  I’m just guessing that this is after the fight.  Seems more logical to me.  Lots of fun.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
