Metaphors have a way of holding the most truth in the least space.”   —   Orson Scott Card

(How can you NOT love this quote???  It’s a winner!  I was a little surprised to see that we’ve already had a quote from the gentleman.  The name did not ring a bell for me.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”   —   Martin Luther King Jr.

(But, today we live in an age of specialization.  And manual/menial labor is looked down upon, by far too many.  In many ways we have lost our way.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  The Frisbee golf course was closing.  The couple played to have – – –

Answer:  ONE LAST FLING

(Oh, oh, oh!  Let’s not forget our family values, guys!  LOL!  This made for a great, stinky pun.  At least this was an open-air affair.  That should be a little healthier.

All of the clue words were old favorites again.  However, all of the jumbles appear to be new.  I was a little uncertain with “cagey”, but I gave in to my reservations.  The answer letter layout was a great 12-letter jumble.  Not obvious at all.

Great cartoon, as always.  I think we had a Frisbee golf themed one a month, or so, ago.  It’s very popular out west.  I saw some courses when I was in Colorado.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  Construction of the railroad would fall behind schedule if they didn’t get – – –

Answer:  BACK ON TRACK

(Great Jumble, good pun.  None of the clue words were new.  But, three of the jumbles came up as new, with only “ozako” having definitely been used before.  I was able to see all the clue words right away.  The answer letter layout was a nice 11-letter jumble, that I don’t think gave anything away.

The cartoon looks to be late 19th Century.  The heyday of the locomotives!  Without the trains, I think it would have taken much longer for the – mainly white – “settlers” to settle the West.  They resulted in a lot of dead bison, and a lot of dead Native Americans.  But, certain people made a lot of money, and now we are where we are.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

None of my patients are hypochondriacs, but you should see some of their owners.”   —   Anonymous Veterinarian

(Very funny, because it is very true.  I think some of these owners have a version of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy.  They get the desired attention by being the caregiver of someone/thing that is chronically “sick”, to the extent that they make up various illnesses for them, and even do things to cause them to become ill.  The disorder has been known to kill children, and pets.  The human race.  What a species!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  When people visit Graceland, they get to see how Elvis – – –

Answer:  LIVED LIKE A KING

(I’ve never been to Graceland.  But I hear, by today’s standards, that it’s a relatively modest mansion.  Of course the country/world was a much simpler place in 1957 – the year of my birth.  Can you believe he only paid $102,500.00 for the 10,266 square foot house, on 13.8 acres!  Wow.  Currently, Zillow puts the average Tennessee home value at around $130,700.  And, that’s probably for a split ranch!

All of today’s clue words are old favorites, yet all of their jumbles are coming up as new.  I stumbled a bit to get “dismal”.  I considered damsil for a minute, or so, and that kinda led me to “dismal”.  I saw the other three immediately.  And, as impressive as the 14-letter answer letter layout was, I got the answer right away.

Great cartoon!  I guess the guy fancies himself a bit of an Elvis look alike.  I probably should visit Graceland, as the original owner’s – Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Moore – named it after her Aunt Grace Toof, the original landowner.  My Mama’s given name was Grace.  But, she thought the name was too stuffy, so she went through her life with her middle name.  She hated how all the doctors’ staff and hospital personnel would call her . . . Grace!  Eh!  We all have our pet peeves.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
