Clue/Question: When they replaced all the mattresses at the hotel, it was – – –

Answer: MUCH “BEDDER“
(Okay. I’ve seen some stinky puns before, and I’ve always applauded them. But, I cannot possibly defend today’s Jumble answer. This has got to be the worst pun answer of all time! It wasn’t the toughest to solve answer, but it even made me groan. And, you know it’s bad when it makes yer Uncle Rave groan. I feel that I need to issue one of those political candidate endorsements . . . in reverse. I’m Uncle Rave, and I disapprove of this pun! Yuck!
All of today’s clue words were old friends. Two of the jumbles came up as new, with “geehd” and “blumme” having definitely been used before. The jumble for chord was just the word backwards. The answer letter layout was an awesome jumble. It didn’t give either word of the answer away. The phrasing of the clue/question and the highlighting of the new mattress is what led me to the answer.
Very humorous cartoon. The new mattress positively sparkles, if that’s possible. The old one is SO forlorn looking. And, if you look real close at the floor by the old mattress, you’ll see bedbugs! Eeew! And, the mattress installer’s hat has ZZZZ on it! Lots of fun! But, that pun? I’m not a bettor, but that pun smells like a wetter sweater – soaked in cheddar – and deserves a scarlet letter! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
