Cryptoquote Spoiler – 08/03/18

Every time I walk on grass I feel sorry because I know the grass is screaming at me.”   —   Barbara McClintock

(Well, lose some weight, Babs!  Oops!  I almost forgot.  Body shaming jokes are no longer allowed in our neo-fascist state!  Well, before somebody gets too bent out of shape, it looks like Ms. McClintock was never heavy.  So, the joke is more erroneous, than in-correct!  Barbara was actually a very accomplished scientist.  Corn is in the grass family, and she worked on maize chromosomes.  And, this is the first of her quotes to make it to the Cryptoquote, since I’ve been posting the spoilers.  So, welcome to the Cryptoquote Club, Dr. McClintock.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 08/03/18

Visual Description:  If a tree falls in the woods, and no one is there to stream it, does it make a sound?

PKIMS  =  SKIMP,  EELVA  =  LEAVE,  ETTINN  =  INTENT,  TGREFO  =  FORGET   —   Giving us:  IMLEIENRET

Clue/Question:  Everyone watched him pull in the fish – – –

Answer:  IN REEL TIME

(“Reelly”  For creel???  After it streams live, then I guess the video can go viral.  Yes, this is a good, stinky pun.  And, that’s how the kids like to do it today.  Snapchat this, Instagram that!  And Facebook everything else.  I wonder if they have their own YouTube channel?

None of today’s clue words are new, yet all of their jumbles appear to be.  I first wrote out “aleve”, thinking maybe the OTC pain reliever was spelled the same as alleve, which is sort of a variant of alleviate.  Apparently the word “leave” was just too basic for me to grasp.  I had to back into it, once I realized that I needed an L, and not an A.  The other three were gimmes for me.  Great job on the answer letter layout.  Even if I hadn’t initially screwed up, the answer letter layout was a nice jumble.

Nice cartoon of deep sea fishing.  It looks like the guy has hooked a marlin.  Maybe a sailfish?  Possibly a swordfish.  I love swordfish!  Do they eat marlin and sailfish as well?  They’re probably all too high in mercury.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
