(That’s nearly a Yogi-ism!  Boy, Casey certainly had a long life in baseball.  Starting as player back in 1912, and finishing up as a manager – for the NY Mets – in 1965!  Both the Mets and Yankees retired his #37, and of course he’s got a plaque in Cooperstown, at the HOF!  Congrats to Chipper, Jim, Vlad, Jack, Alan, and Trevor for this weekend’s induction to the Hall.  Time marches on!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 07/30/18

Clue/Question:  When the Jumble artist sketched his work area, it included a – – –

Answer:  DESK DRAWER

(That’s a little sneaky, stinky pun.  He’s definitely looking at his desk, but it’s not so obvious he’s concentrating on his desk drawer.  But the word DESK kind of jumped out at me.  From RERWAD I was able to come up with DRAWER, and hence the pun.

We appear to have a new clue word today, in “rover”.  Meaning a wanderer, or someone who roves.  NOT the clichéd name of a dog!  So, it looks like our good friend, ralis95, has a new word to add to his world famous clue word database.  This has been a busy quarter for him.  We’ve seen the jumble “fiwts” before, but the others seem to be new.  The answer letter layout was a mighty fine jumble.  Mighty fine.

Great cartoon.  Jeff’s got his POI tee-shirt on, and there’s a WILCO poster on the wall.  But, the stars of the cartoon have to be the two sleeping pooches.  You can never go wrong with sleeping dogs.  Good clean fun.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
