Visual Description: A “Night Court” spinoff?
SAIDY = DAISY, UTTAN = TAUNT, ABRREB = BARBER, DULPED = PUDDLE — Giving us: DAITNTRERUDE
Clue/Question: Considered to be exceptionally honest, the judge was – – –
Answer: TRIED AND TRUE
(It looks like Mac has gone from court clerk to judge! I used to love the show “Night Court”. I had almost forgotten that the foil to Dan Fielding, in the first season, was Billie Young, played by the singer Ellen Foley. From season 2 on it was Christine Sullivan, played by Markie Post. This show could always get a laugh out of me.
There are no new clue words today, yet all of the jumbles came up as new. The toughest one for me was “uttan”. I kept trying to make a two syllable word . . . like the jumble. I guess it was taunt-ing me. The answer letter layout was a very impressive jumble. Not obvious. It took me about a minute to see the answer.
Great cartoon. The one guy really looks like John Larroquette. I remember him when he was on “Baa Baa Black Sheep”. And, if the hair was blonde, the woman could pass for Markie Post. And, the judge does resemble Charles Robinson. Not sure why Jeff didn’t go for Harry Anderson. It was a fun Jumble though! Took me back. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

I struggled briefly with both TAUNT and the final answer as well. I was sure you were going to say that TAUNT was new; I must have unscrambled it immediately in its earlier appearance(s) in the last decade, because it was not on my tough word list. It is now. It features an unusual pattern of common letters, which is always good for a challenge.
Right away I figured the middle word in the final answer was AND but needed the better part of a minute to find the bookend words. Good clue and good cartoon that do not give the answer away. Also those two words use common letters, and double Ts, Rs, and Es, making the answer tough to see if it doesn’t occur to the solver immediately. Nice puzzle guys.
Try harder all.
I had forgotten about “Night Court”.
Loved it !
And, I had a little thing for a cutie like Markie Post.
