Visual Description: The marathon match!
CCEHA = CACHE, ZIMEA = MAIZE, HNETSC = STENCH, TREESO = STEREO — Giving us: ACEMZSCHSTO
Clue/Question: After the outfielder ended the 15-inning game, he was ready to – – –

Answer: CATCH SOME Z‘S
(Other than the unnecessary – and slightly misleading – apostrophe, this was a great Jumble. It’s a little ironic that it’s coming on the heels of the marathon Semifinal match at Wimbledon, between the American, John Isner, and the South African, Kevin Anderson. After six hours and 35 minutes the South African prevailed. That kind of beating will probably add to the unlikelihood of Anderson upending Djokovic in the Final match. But, I’m about as casual a tennis fan as there is, so I don’t really care all that much who wins it. I think there was probably more interest in the Women’s Final, which recently concluded, with Angelique Kerber upsetting Serena Williams. Even though she lost, Serena won a moral victory, seeing as how she reached the Finals, just 10 months after delivering her baby. And, at the ripening age of 36. Congrats to both women!
We have another new clue word today, in “cache”. Our buddy, ralis95, will have to update his world famous clue word database once again! I hope all this updating isn’t wearing him out. Two of the jumbles came up as new, with “zimea” and “treeso” having been used before. I still think they are superior jumbles! The answer letter layout was definitely cryptic. The cartoon stuff and the leading nature of the clue/question is what led me to the answer.
The cartoon was really fun, with the moon high in the sky, and the clock showing 1 O’clock. And, it is clearly the outfield. I’m guessing that those are visiting fans in the stands, who are celebrating, as the Home team has the last at bat. But, the scoreboard/clock makes it look like the Jumbles are the Home team! Hmm! Could we be looking at both a grammatical error, AND a Jumble – sorta – continuity error? LOL! Ain’t I a stinker??? I know my grammar and punctuation are far from perfect, but I just like getting my digs in, when I can! I think this was a fairly tough Jumble , for a Saturday! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
