Clue/Question: After the hypodermic needle was perfected, doctors were ready to – – –

Answer: GIVE IT A SHOT
(That is a good, medically historical, stinky pun! Colloquially, we refer to an injection as a shot. And, the means of that injection/shot is a hypodermic needle. It’s the main way that medical professionals administer vaccinations, and such. I know, I know. Thank you, Captain Obvious.
All of today’s clue words are familiar to us all, although each of their jumbles are coming up as new. Good jumbles, but none of them stumped me. The answer letter layout was a beautifully cryptic jumble. The cartoon’s dialog, and the leading nature of the clue/question, made the answer a no-brainer, for me.
The cartoon is another great historical, period piece. It shows the first modern day hypodermic syringe, that has been attributed to Dr. Alexander Wood, of Scotland. The inter-webs says that this took place in 1853. And, who am I to argue with this? Fun Jumble. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
