Answer: DUCKS IN A ROW
(A wonderfully stinky pun, to end the work week! Somewhat of a challenge. To stoop, to bend, to crouch, to hunch down. Those are the less conventional ways to say to duck! But, when something is about to smack you in the head, what do people usually yell? DUCK!!!
There are no new clue words today, however all the jumbles appear to be new. Of course, I saw “lunacy” immediately! For some reason, I saw inlaid before I saw “inland”. But, when I filled in the squares I wrote inlang! Where that G came from . . . I don’t know. None of the words contain a G! Maybe the suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain are affecting me. Life can be so confusing sometimes. Why them? They seemingly had everything. Did they know something we don’t? My life is a whole lot more uncertain than theirs were, but I still want to live. Damn! What a waste. Hug your kids, and tell all your loved ones that you love them. In life you just never know. And, a simple token of affection could make all the difference in the world to someone who is struggling with life’s hardships. Okay. End of sermon.
Great cartoon, as usual. It could be a group of scouts, or summer campers, or even a class trip. I like the looks of apprehension on the kids faces. Hey! Caves can be more than a little scary. Bats and bears, and spiders and such! Then, there’s that whole thing of being below ground, and the fear of being buried alive! Big ones are one thing, but the ones you have to crawl around in are quite another. No wonder these kids are filled with trepidation. Fun Friday Jumble! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Great unexpected pun there! After solving it I was staring at the cartoon and had to think about it before the light bulb finally came on. “Ducks??… Ohhhhh!!” Very clever.
We had just started Netflixing Season 1 of “13 Reasons Why.” Until it started with warnings appended, I had forgotten that this series was controversial when it first came out about a year ago, with some mental health folks cautioning that in exploring the 13 reasons cited by the teenage girl protagonist as to why she committed suicide, it could encourage other adolescents to see suicide as a way to get back at those who had hurt them. Mostly the series has been praised by critics, and yes, the first two episodes we’ve seen have been very well done and worth seeing. Another theme of the series is how hard it is to be a high schooler.
Twice as many people commit suicide in the US now as are murdered annually. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US.
So yes, reach out and tell your friends and family: you love them.
Thanks, David! — YUR
Unc, both suicides have affected me in 2 ways as always: such sadness at their despair, that they felt their death was the only solution. And because of that despair they have absolutely no idea how difficult this will be on their family and other loves for years & years. It happened in my dear husband’s family & it’s just devastating. No answers, no peace. They all need our prayers. Thanks for listening Unc. Oh yes, the Jumble was fairly easy & cute but u’ll NEVER catch me in a cave! 😱 Hugs 🤗
Unfortunately I have to use both hands to count the number of suicides that have passed through my life and I’m running out of fingers. And these are not recent, would not be counted in today’s numbers. Suicide is a question never answered, a
Unc, that picture of that young lady squeezing between the rocks gives me the willies. And where she is headed looks like the rock slides straight down. I’m right with you Barb, caves and tunnels are NOT for me! At least when hiking there is generally a trail. And at that, I’m afraid of being lost in the forrest.
David, DUCKS was a ‘huh’ for me too, until our Unc led me to the light. I did not have a lightbulb moment!
Another grand puzzler. Still mushing forward. LL
