Visual Description: From knave to king?
GUTHO = ROUGH, PINTE = INEPT, TILNOO = LOTION, DYIMAD = MIDDAY — Giving us: ROGINTINID
Clue/Question: He paid big bucks for the race horse and had a lot – – –

Answer: RIDING ON IT
(As in The Sport of Kings! Kind of a hackney-ed pun! Stinky nonetheless! Ahh, horse apples!!!
None of today’s clue words are new, and the only new jumble is “gurho”. The other three have been used in the past. I saw the first three instantly, and the fourth took me two seconds. The answer letter layout was a fine jumble. By itself, it gave nothing away.
It was the combination of the total cartoon, and the leading nature of the clue/question, that made getting today’s answer a laugher. The owner looks like our Jeff! But, any guy with hair and glasses looks like Jeff, to me! Just as any bald guy in these cartoons looks like David, to me. Is the J on the jockey for Jumble, or Justify? Justify is the favorite to win The Belmont Stakes, this Saturday. Although, a mile and a half is the real test of a champion. Bravazo was closing hard on Justify at The Preakness Stakes, and had the race been longer – as The Belmont is – Bravazo might have overtaken Justify. And, you’ve got to watch out for Hofberg! That horse seems to have been bred to win The Belmont. But, it’s a horse race, and anything can happen. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
