Cryptoquote Spoiler – 05/18/18

(My people!  Well, at least half.  I’m English and Dutch on my Mom’s side.  Even so . . . I don’t get it.  With the negative and the “but”.  Are they saying an eel longs to be a whale, meaning bigger, badder, and – supposedly – better?  Top of the food chain kinda thing?  Most people want to be richer and more respected, I guess, but not all.  “Be just what you is, not what you is not. Folks what do this has the happiest lot.”   Can anyone dig back for that one?  It’s from my childhood, the early ’60s!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 05/18/18

Answer:  “TIDAL“ PAGE

(Oooh!  A very good stinky pun.  Must be low tide!  This one has an air of originality, too.  Sometimes they have that feeling of being a re-run, or a variation on a popular theme.  But, not today!  None of the clue words are new, but three of the jumbles appear to be.  We’ve definitely seen “cleet” before.

The answer letter layout was a beautifully cryptic jumble.  The best one of the day, really.  I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you struggled to get the answer.

Great beach scene cartoon.  The wife looks sufficiently covered, to protect her from the sun.  Some gulls in the sky, and a tiny sinking sailboat on the horizon rounds out the placid scene.  Of course, the book being open to the title page was a big clue!  A very nice Friday Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
