“Nature makes boys and girls lovely to look upon so they can be tolerated until they acquire some sense.” — William Lyon Phelps
(A very nice way . . . for a cranky old man . . . to put it! I didn’t say that he was wrong. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Another author I had never heard of … The Cryp continues to expand my horizons. I’m a little disturbed to see Professor Phelps’s comment that women can’t write first-rate music, but hey, he was a crusty old curmudgeon!
Surprisingly, we have seen him at least once before, Roy. Back on 12/18/13 his quote was far from curmudgeonly. Times, and viewpoints, change. And, for the most part, for good. The thing we need to remember today is not to impose – too stridently – today’s righteousness on the prevailing sensibilities of the past. I think we continue to evolve through a combination knowledge and tolerance.
